Advanced battery systems design for future electrified powertrains

The lithium-ion battery is currently the preferred energy storage technology for battery electrified vehicles (BEV) due to its long cycle life, high energy density, and high-power density capabilities. However, many other technologies are worth considering for a more suitable battery in terms of safety and lifetime range.

Join us in this webinar with Martin Petit, Electrochemical Engineer at IFP Energies Nouvelles and Project Manager of MODALIS² European project, and Xavier Conqui, Business Development Manager for Automotive at Siemens Digital Industry Software, as they will discuss the current status of battery modeling innovation and the value of matching industrial players' expectations.

Virtually design each new generation from cells to the battery pack

Most materials cell suppliers and electrified vehicles manufacturers are investigating new options outside the lithium-ion battery by using digital models that allow them to predict the performance of these new generation batteries. Having access to the right tool to virtually design each new generation from cells to the battery pack and anticipate their performance is crucial to optimize their development cycle. In this webinar, we will discuss MODALIS², a European research project that is developing the digital model of generation 3 cells, NMC 811 cathode with Graphite-Silicon anodes and generation 4 cells, cells with solid electrolytes.

Better support cell suppliers and OEMs in matching design requirements

MODALIS², a European research project developing the digital model of generation 3 cells, NMC 811 cathode with Graphite-Silicon anodes and generation 4 cells, cells with solid electrolytes. The European R&D project aims to provide a range of models that allow users to address the challenges due to the next technologies which will be available on the market. We will also touch on how these models used in 3D multi-physics and system simulation environments better support cell suppliers and OEMs in matching their design requirements for future electrified powertrains.

Martin Petit:Electrochemical Engineer at IFP Energies Nouvelles and Project Manager , MODALIS² project

Martin PETIT graduated from Ecole des Mines of Nancy in 2007 and obtained his Ph.D. in chemical engineering of INPL in 2011. He joined the IFPEN battery modeling team as an electrochemical engineer in 2012 and has contributed to the development of electrical storage systems models for system simulation in automotive applications primarily implemented in Simcenter Amesim LIBES library. Since 2013, Martin has been involved in activities around Li-ion batteries safety modeling, and since 2020 he has been coordinator of the H2020 project MODALIS² dedicated to next-generation battery modeling.

Xavier Conqui:Business Development Manager for Automotive, Siemens Digital Industries Software

Xavier Conqui has worked for several software-related companies in CAD and real-time simulation. He started his career at Autodesk in charge of the personal solution business unit for France. He then worked in sales and distribution management at Startup and multinationals related to the virtual reality industry and CFD simulations. Xavier joined Siemens in 2021. He is based in Paris and is focused on electric vehicles and works with software product management teams and sales teams globally to meet customers' requirements.

... Leer más
