The four panellists consisted of Ken Wotton of Gresham House and BNY Mellon’s Jon Bell, alongside Jason Pidcock and Dan Carter, both from Jupiter. With Andy Merricks of 8am Global chairing the panel, an upbeat and wide-ranging debate followed, revolving around the challenge of generating income in today’s low-yielding environment. And the erudite point that active managers have an advantage when they’re operating in inefficient equity markets also provided things to consider. In keeping with that theme, towards the end of the panel, each of the managers was asked to name one stock that ‘excites’ them when it comes to their earnings prospects.
