From washing machines to elevators. From traction of automotive vehicles to propulsion of marine vessels. From large electric power plants to independent generators for emergency power supply. Electric machines are indisputably an important part of modern society. Although electric machines have been designed, produced and brought to market for several decades, the increasingly challenging demands on performance, cost, environmental impact and development time expose designers and analysts to considerable challenges.

The design of electric machines involves aspects of several physical disciplines (e.g., electromagnetic design, thermal analysis and structural integrity assessment) and requires considering their interplay when aiming for a successful product. Although the increasing demands placed on electric machines significantly increase the complexity of the design process, they motivate researchers, analysts and designers to push their products to their limits, leveraging the development of high-performance and environmentally friendly products.

Numerical simulation is a powerful means of tackling the challenges arising during the design process of electric machines. It allows detailed modeling of design candidates considering physical phenomena difficult to capture by means of, e.g., analytic equations or empirical tabular data. With numerical simulation you can assess multiple design candidates and test different ideas with reasonable time investment and cost.

This webinar will present how Ansys tools can be used to model the physics governing the behavior of synchronous machines and assist developers in finding the answers to the questions they are confronted with when tuning, e.g., geometry, material selection and the machine’s feeding to maximize performance.

Speaker: Daniel Bachinski Pinhal, Senior Application Engineer, Ansys

What Attendees Will Learn

  • How Ansys tools can be applied to explore the parameter space available and obtain promising design candidates.
  • How to address challenging detailed analyses such as assessing eddy-current losses in permanent magnets or sudden-short circuit tests of the machine’s windings.
  • How different disciplines of physics can be analyzed using Ansys tools to optimize a machine design holistically.

... Leer más
