Learn how to benefit from deploying radio frequency identification within your warehouse, by managing your inventory and coordinating your supply chain. Hear real-world case studies explaining the tangible business benefits of how RFID can help your organization improve visibility regarding product movements and related transactions, as well as increase efficiencies, lower labor costs, optimize inventory levels, track assets and differentiate your logistic service, in order to gain a competitive advantage.

11:00 AM Welcome and Introduction

Speaker: Mark Roberti, Founder and Editor, RFID Journal

11:05 AM Beverage Wholesaler Increases Efficiency With RFID

A wholesale distributor of beer, wine, bottled water and other beverages is using RFID to identify pallets loaded with customer-ordered goods as they are delivered to conveyors controlled by an automated warehouse system. The RFID solution was built into the company's automation technology, enabling the firm to decrease the feed-in time in which the pallets are passed off from drivers to the automated conveyor system. The firm has reduced the amount of time required for the handoff to the conveyor system, from about 15 seconds down to two seconds. Taking into account all pallets transferred during a given day, the savings equates to eight hours of labor daily.

11:40 AM Building Your RFID Business Case

RFID can provide several advantages over existing automated-identification technologies within supply chain and inventory management. In order to build a realistic business cases and justify your investment, both qualitatively and quantifiably, you will need to accurately evaluate RFID's marginal impact and benefits over existing technologies. This session will help you understand how to measure the technology's impact on your supply chain process performance, by using specific key performance indicators. In addition, the presenters will explain how to document an RFID business case within your four walls, and throughout your supply chain.

12:05 PM Cold Storage Recoups RFID Investment in a Flash

A frozen foods storage company saved $100,000 since installing RFID readers about four months ago. The company installed a reader at the end of 20 aisles within its warehouse, so that it could confirm where its thousands of pallets are located as they are put away or removed. The solution ensures that loaded pallets can be quickly located when required for outgoing shipments—thereby reducing the amount of labor required to search for missing goods, while also preventing the need to pay a customer for something that is missing. Learn how the technology is projected to save $233,000 annually, based on the number of labor hours personnel previously spent searching for missing pallets and the cost of paying for pallets not located in time.

12:35 PM Manufacturer Tracks Inventory in Real Time Via RFID

A packaging manufacturer delivers quality-finished cartons to companies in a variety of industries, including food and beverage, pharmaceutical, and personal care. Equipped with state-of-the-art technology, the company's warehouse uses robots to move pallets to conveyors to prepare for distribution. The current system can identify when each pallet is loaded, sized and placed into or taken out of storage. Learn how the firm plans to expand the system's use by installing an RFID reader at the loading dock, in order to extend that visibility to the shipping of goods and automatically update the finished goods inventory. With the system in place, the firm can now prevent errors and gain a more detailed inventory of where each pallet is located. Hear how the company shares that data with its customers, enabling them to view which products have been manufactured by inputting an order number linked to specific pallet IDs, and thereby learning whether those cartons are in storage or have been shipped.

... Leer más
