Most organizations define patch SLAs — 7, 14, or 30 days — to manage vulnerability remediation. But those timelines were designed for operational predictability, not for how attackers actually exploit vulnerabilities. In many recent incidents, vulnerabilities were weaponized within hours or days of disclosure, while enterprise remediation cycles took weeks. The result is a growing gap between how risk is measured and how quickly systems are actually exposed.
